Pathology Results

Complete  Pathological  response.  Aka The disappearance of all signs of cancer in response to treatment. Chemotherapy shrunk the cancer lump I found.  The purpose of the surgery was to remove every bit of breast tissue that was left and there was no sign of any cancer.  She removed a big chunk of lymph nodes as precaution and only 1 out of 12 of them had cancer which was the one we knew about.  Aka I kicked cancers arse. Where’s the cider?

The Corona & Me

When I say corona and me. I mean us, as cancer fighters. What is Coronavirus? The coronavirus is a flu-like virus. It causes an illness called COVID-19 which can affect your lungs and airways. For most the virus won’t cause serious problems. But for some the virus can have serious complications. People with cancer/undergoing chemotherapy or just finished having treatment are at risk. This is because some cancers and cancer treatment weakens immune systems.  The symptoms of coronavirus are: a cough a high temperature shortness of breath But these symptoms do not necessarily mean you have the illness. The symptoms are similar to other illnesses that are much more common, such as cold and flu.   Well surgery.  That was an interesting few days.  I don’t remember much of the day itself. I remember my period starting. Yay. But then because I was out of it for about 5hours. It wasn’t a bad thing. From what I remember I was chatting away to the anaesthetic nurse about my wedding and then I was coming too with some completely different man chatting to me. I had 3 drains attached to me, one of which was for my left breast, one for my right and one for my lymph node clear out. Here is a picture of my drains that were attached to my bed. Which was a bit annoying when I needed a wee, they had to detach me and then put me back to the bed again. They were extremely long and quite frustrating but I did have some drain bags to help keep it all. It was more hard work at nighttime when I was trying to move around because I had to be aware of where they were situated. It’s kind of like having 3 extra limbs!  They told me I was due to be discharged on the Wednesd...

8 weeks post chemotherapy!

It’s been 8 weeks since my last chemotherapy. And in that time I have managed to have my surgery too!  Periods Yeah, I’d like to say I miss it. But I definitely don’t. On the day of my surgery my period started. I kid you not. Was I prepared? No? I had 0 tampons, and 0 sanitary pads in the house. The pain was unreal, the cramps you get it! It feels nice to have some normality back and feel a bit like a woman again. But I definitely haven’t missed these times! I’m surprised how quickly it all came back. Could of been a mixture of stress due to the surgery coming up and anxieties of that. But it happened. Lasted 5 days and off. How bizarre! Fatigue Baring in mind, I have just had surgery 1 week post writing this. I am feeling tired. But prior to this recent event, I was actually feeling relatively good. I felt like I had more energy. Not enough to run a marathon but enough to feel  I can run around with Erin a bit more!  Throughout my hospital appointments in ...
